WON BUDDHISM IN THE WORLD

CENTRAL HEADQUARTERS

WON BUDDHISM IN KOREA

The Headquarters of Won Buddhism (Central Headquarters, Korea) is located at Sinryong-dong(Iksan-daero 501) in Iksan City, South Korea. This place is open to all who wish to enter as the truth is open to all who search for it. Iksan Central Headquarters were established in the Fall of the 9th year of the Won Buddhist era (1924) as the center for an evangelical movement to awaken people through Won Buddhist Teaching.

This is also a sacred place where the Founding Master Sotaesan had personally presided over the work at hand, demonstrating by his actions a model of truthful life, till the very day of his entering nirvana. The essence and flavor of the difficult days following the inception of Won Buddhism can be re-experienced here as areas of the compound have been preserved in their original state.

Various offices of the Won Buddhist Headquarters are also located in this compound, including the Head Dharma Master of Won Buddhism Central Headquarters who presides over the affairs of the Order; the Supreme Council, the highest decision-making body; the Administration Office, central executive organ; the Inspection Bureau which inspects the general affairs of the Order; Office of the Joint Committee of Priests and Laypeople, the deliberative body of the Order.

USA HEADQUARTERS OF WON BUDDHISM (Won Dharma Center) is an Open Circle of teachers and students, neighbors and visitors, young and old, from any faith to no faith in New York State as the first step in the establishment of a US Won Buddhism Headquarters in Aug. 2011. The Won Dharma Center began as a spiritual center to provide meditation retreats and dharma services to the community.

Sotaesan, the Founding Master of Won Buddhism said that every nation should have its own Head Dharma Master to help spread Won Buddhism dharma in the different cultural environments of the world.

In 1999, a new article, The Overseas Headquarters, was added to the Won Buddhism Constitution so that each country could legally have its own Head Dharma Master.

January 12th, 2021 is an historic day for Won Buddhism of the USA. The Venerable Juksan was officially appointed the Head Dharma Master of Won Buddhism USA included Latin America. Now, the Won Dharma Center has become the Won Buddhism Headquarters of the USA, and it is ready to embark on additional tasks such as creating new procedures and regulations appropriate to the different environments of the USA.
